I RETURN AHHH.

I’ve been taking advantage of senior week events —we had open studios, some freelancing talks, etc. But I return (late, but nonetheless)! Come back for another page on the usual Monday!

In other news, I survived MoCCA! It was really nice this year and I had a good time, even though I couldn’t partake in any after party activities (had to dash home and work!).
Also, a few months ago I was awarded a BFA Illustration and Cartooning Award on behalf of SVA’s Alumni society in order to continue my work on “After the Wake”. I am extremely honored and grateful for this award, and thankful to all donors who gave to the alumni society so that these awards may be possible!

After the Wake will return this week! A new post will be up on Tuesday (tomorrow), but after that the usual Monday postings will resume!

I had made a post about coming to say hi to me at MoCCA, but I accidentally marked it for April 22nd, WOOPS! In any case, that’s why there was no post, crazy, crazy MoCCA prep. I exhibited with my group Coffee Spoons Comics and had a bunch of minis. It was fun, but I am definitely worn out!
If you missed me at MoCCA, I will also be at SVA’s Fresh Meat (April 26th), which is always exciting! I will also be with Coffee Spoons Comics at the wonderful Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF). Definitely one of my favourite festivals, so come check it out (May 11-12th) !

Experimented with portraying the dream sequence. Not sure how I feel about the product, but it sure was a lot of fun and made me miss painting!

In other news: I have a month left until I graduate here at SVA. Terror. All terror. Tons and tons of work (I go to school full time and essentially have 3 jobs, SO). Just gotta keep on truckin’

Ahhhhh schoolwork is killing me right now! Here is the update–I’ll write more later!

Hi guys, I’m sorry to delay the update. I was in a minor car accident yesterday, along with three other people (I was a passenger). Everyone is ok, mostly just bruised and sore from whiplash (we were very lucky).

I typically scan my page (I work big, 19×24 bristol) using large format scanners that I have access to in the city. Naturally, I’m not going in today and choosing to work from home while I slap some icy-hot back patches on me. However, there will be an update tomorrow (the page is all done and everything, I swear!). In the meantime, enjoy a photo of the latest edition of “Things I Have Survived”:

I still treasure my collection of Grimm Fairytales. There’s all this beautiful spot illustration in the book!!
I used Hansel and Grethel since it is a story often used to deal with children’s fear of being abandoned by their parents–I thought it was fitting.

Snowpocalypse here was crazy! I was locked outta my studio for a few days and didn’t have access to large scanners (I work on 19×14″ bristol, with a live area of 15×20″). But, the new page is here!
